PTA Reflection Program

Information about the 2009-2010
Reflections Programs will be update soon!

National PTA believes all children deserve a quality Art Education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflection Program. The program offers students K-12 the opportunity to create and submit works of art in six areas:

> Dance / Choreography
> Film / Video
> Literature
> Musical Composition
> Photography
> Visual Arts (including art forms such as: drawing, painting, print making, and collage)

Participating in the Reflections Program is an opportunity for students to explore and learn about various art forms. It does not matter whether an entry created for the Reflections Program has been created as a classroom assignment or independently at home. Artistic exploration and expression enhance and develop intellectual, social, and Physical skills. Creating art is a valuable learning process.

For more information on this program, please visit Washington State PTA's website: http://http://www.wastatepta.org/programs/Reflections/reflect.htm

 Program Overview
The Reflections Program is a National PTA and Washington State PTA cultural arts competition. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for students to use their creative talents by expressing themselves through their own original works.

Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. Themes are selected from thousands of ideas submitted by students to National PTA's Reflections Theme Search.

The 2009-2010 Reflections theme is: "Beauty is...".

Young artists get involved in Reflections through their local PTA or PTSA. A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted. The six art areas are: Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Film/Video and Choreography/Dance.

Reflections 2009-10
There will be a number of changes to the Reflections Program that will affect both local units and councils. When you receive the new guide later this summer, please review it carefully noting the changes. As I know many of you are lining up your dates for next year, We want you to be aware that the deadline for submitting entries to WSPTA will be JANUARY 15, 2010. This is a "postmarked by" date. Please plan accordingly.
