Be a part of building community!
|
If you enjoy building community, encouraging others, and making a meaningful impact, this is an incredibly rewarding way to serve our school. |
The PTA President is part cheerleader, part organizer, and part connector — bringing together families, volunteers, and school staff to make great things happen for our students. You'll work closely with the principal and Executive Board to set goals, plan the year's events, and keep everyone moving in the same direction. Along the way, you'll lead meetings, help answer member questions, celebrate our amazing volunteers and staff, and support committee chairs as they bring their ideas to life. While it's a leadership role, you won't be doing it alone — you'll have a dedicated board and volunteers working alongside you every step of the way. You don't have to have all the answers — you just have to be willing to bring people together. The rest is teamwork. Email president@littlecedarspta.org to learn more.

Date:
Tue 9/1 - Thu 9/3
Where:
Little Cedars Elementary
Kindergarten WaKIDS (“first three days”)
WaKIDS State full-day kindergarten programs participate in a program called Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS). WaKIDS is part of a transition process that helps to ensure a successful start to your child’s school experience. There are several components to the WaKIDS program. ~Family connections – During the first three days, teachers will meet with each kindergarten family to get to know them and learn about the student’s interests and needs. We will have many opportunities designed to get to know our new kindergarten students and their families. Our goal is to introduce school to your kindergartener and lessen the anxiety around starting school. Watch for more information from your child’s school about schedules and details as the start of school approaches. ~WaKIDS whole child assessment – This is not an assessment in the sense of a “test” students take. In the fall, teachers observe each child during classroom activities and record data about what each child knows and can do at the beginning of the school year. Knowing more about your child’s skills and strengths as they enter kindergarten helps teachers and parents work together to support student growth. The WaKIDS assessment observes six areas: social-emotional, physical, cognitive, language, literacy and mathematics. ~Early learning collaborations – Our schools are working to build relationships with early learning providers to support smoother transitions into school for our students. ics:
