Little Cedar's annual Science Fair is held in March in the Multi Purpose Room.

Students are encouraged to create a science project to display during the school day and at night.

Volunteers are needed for advertising and publications, student signup, placement and awards, as well as general setup and takedown.

The Little Cedars PTA Spelling Bee is a fun event open to all 4th-6th grade students, where kids get a chance to show off their oral spelling ability in front of an audience.

Art Docents
Art Docents

Classroom volunteers teach a specific artist or painting and lead the children in an art project once a month. Projects are displayed in the hallway monthly and then at the Celebration of the Arts at the end of the year. Celebration of the Arts usually takes place one evening in May celebrating the Art Docent program and highlighting the students' art work. Volunteers will help set up and clean up that evening and work with the Art Docent coordinators as needed.

Reflections Program

Reflections is a National PTA arts recognition program that helps students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence, and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful not only in school, but in life.

Students create original works of art in response to a theme.

A student may submit an entry in any of six arts areas. Only original works of art are accepted.

Science Labs

The Science Lab is a PTA funded, volunteer-run program with the purpose to engage all level of students and encourage curiosity of the scientific process. Volunteers help deliver pre-planned science labs in classrooms. No experience is needed to volunteer, and many parents / guardians are able to volunteer during lunch hours.

Talent Show

The Talent Show Committee will select 30, 2-minute performances.
Group performances and variety acts are encouraged.
We will do our best to accommodate as many performers as possible but due to time constraints it may not be possible to host all the applicants.
We will split the performers into two groups. Group A will meet on March 20th and March 22nd after school in the Multi Purpose Room (MPR) from 2:50pm – 4:00pm. Group B will meet on March 21st and March 23rd after school in the MPR from 2:50pm – 4:00pm. Both groups will perform on March 24th during school hours at an assembly and again in the evening for families and friends. The evening performance will be in the MPR from 6:00pm-7:30pm with the performers arriving by 5:45pm.

Each Thursday, the smell of delicious popcorn is in the air! Students can purchase popcorn for 25 cents, so just "pop" on over to the popcorn poppers at recess and enjoy a bag. The popcorn committee are responsible for making and selling popcorn to students during lunch recess on Thursdays. The chair of this committee is responsible for coordinating parent volunteers on the committee. They are also responsible for ordering the popcorn, preparing and communicating the weekly schedule, training the committee, collecting funds and giving them to the PTA treasurer.

Students & families, come meet your new teachers and see your classroom! Families will be divided into two sessions (Last names A-M or N-Z) to minimize the crowded parking situation.

Students are encouraged to bring their school supplies so that they can be put away in their classrooms. PTA volunteers will be on-site so you can join PTA, volunteer for events, purchase yearbooks and spirit wear, and ask questions about the new school year.

Each year a student directory is printed and distributed to each family at Little Cedars. The directory is a great way to get in touch with other families in the LCE community. The Chair of this program creates the Directory, coordinates printing and timely distribution to all LCE Families.

Wolverine Spirit Wear is sold in the Fall and typically again in the late Winter/early Spring. The chair for Wolverine Spirit Wear helps coordinate the products for ordering and works with our vendor for ordering and screen printing needs. Online ordering and deadlines are provided and advertised when orders are being taken, so keep an eye out for information in the "Wolverine Weekly"! Show your Wolverine pride!

Each one is worth 10 cents for our school which will be used for educational items, programs and events! This committee produces an annual Little Cedars' yearbook available for purchase by students and staff, and delivered in June. The chairs and committee work to plan and design the yearbook. The yearbook features every class, specialist, and school group. It also highlights other activities that occur during the school year. Several volunteers who are comfortable with a camera are needed to photograph various school-wide and grade-level activities throughout the year.
